RIVERVIEW, Fla.—Smoke filled the air as an apartment fire burned at a complex in Riverview near U.S. 301 Wednesday night.
Hillsborough County Fire and Rescue worked to put out the flames at the Allegro Palm Apartments after they said lightning struck a building and started a fire.
Nobody was hurt in the fire, but 24 units were damaged and 75 to 100 people were displaced, according to officials.
Fire officials say the lightning struck the roof of one of the buildings, and it quickly spread to the other building.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.
